Challenging Pedagogy With Our
Professional Series
This workshop offers a unique opportunity for educators, community leaders, and professionals to engage with Métis history and culture through the powerful practices of music and dance. Rooted in community knowledge and lived experience, participants will learn traditional Métis dances—including the iconic Red River Jig—and explore the rhythms of the musical spoons in a welcoming, hands-on environment.
More than just learning steps and sounds, this workshop is an invitation to rethink how culture, history, and identity are shared in professional and educational spaces. Together, we’ll explore ways to respectfully integrate Métis teachings and storytelling into our classrooms, programs, and workplaces—centering Indigenous voices and experiences in ways that challenge colonial narratives.

Participants will leave with a set of digital resources—including instructional videos, cultural context materials, and teaching tools—to support ongoing learning and community sharing. These resources are designed to help you carry the knowledge forward, creating spaces where Indigenous culture isn’t just acknowledged, but meaningfully embedded.
Join us in building relationships, moving to the heartbeat of Métis tradition, and reimagining how we bring culture into the spaces where we learn, work, and grow.
